REVIEW OF ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT OF HARYANA FOREST DEPARTMENT FOR THE YEAR 2015-1 6
Haryana is primarily an agricultural state with almost 81% of its land under cultivation. It has a geographical area of 44,212 sq. km, which is merely 1.3% of the geo graphical area of the country. The state is not bestowed with bounty of natural forests. The extent of recorded forest areas in the state is 1,748 sq. km i.e. 3.95% of its total land area. The forest areas include strips of land along roads, canals, bunds and railways etc. which have been notified as protected forests under the Indian Forest Act, 1927.
